THE RUNDOWN
NORMAN, Oklahoma – Baylor Softball fell to the No.1 ranked Oklahoma Sooners, 8-0, in game two of the three-game series Saturday afternoon.

After a leadoff groundout, Taylor Strain drew a walk to account for the first base-runner of the game for the Bears.

Showing off defensively, the Bears stopped a couple of Sooners from scoring in the bottom of the first, when a couple of groundouts and a strikeout closed the inning.

In the top of the second, Baylor got the first two batters on base when Josie Bower was hit by a pitch and Aliyah Binford followed with an infield single. But, OU started Nicole May (9-0) retired the next three in order before Binford (5-3) worked a 1-2-3 bottom half to keep the game a scoreless tie through two.

McKenzie Wilson singled to the left side to start the third inning, recording the first of her two hits on the day.

OU capitalized off of a couple of hits in the third and fourth innings, plating six runs to go up, 6-0.

The Bears loaded the bases in the top of the fifth, with Wilson and Taylor Strain each coming through with two-out singles before West walked. A fly ball ended the threat, as the Bears left a total of seven runners stranded.

The Sooners plated two in the bottom of the fifth to secure the 8-0 run-rule victory.

HIGHLIGHTS

  * Aliyah Binford struck out five batters, including Tiare Jennings, which was just her second of the season
  * This is only the third time this season the Sooners have been held scoreless through the first two innings
  * McKenzie Wilson went 2-for-3 at the plate

TOP QUOTES
Glenn Moore on the game…
“I really thought Aliyah and Kaci challenged their hitters from the start. We used the short game early and had some things working but couldn’t push a run. This team has the right mindset. I’m a believer in them and they believe in themselves, if they can keep that mentally the game will eventually reward them.”
