IRVING, Texas – Following their success in the 2021-22 season, Baylor equestrian’s Shelby Clausen, Caroline Fuller, Marley Mainwaring and Andie Pratt picked up a combined six Big 12 postseason awards, as announced Saturday evening by the conference office.

Pratt led the way as this year’s Big 12 Reining Rider of the Year, while also earning a spot on the All-Big 12 Reining Team. Clausen joined her as the Bears collected two of the league’s four Reining spots.

Fuller earned honors for both Jumping Seat events as an All-Big 12 Fences and All-Big 12 Flat selection, becoming the only student-athlete in the conference to garner recognition on multiple teams. Mainwaring rounded things out for BU on the All-Big 12 Horsemanship Team.

“It feels so good to see my girls be recognized. It takes a lot of consistency to get yourself in there to be recognized at the end of the year for your performance for the entire season,” said head coach Casie Maxwell. “It’s one thing to be Rider of the Month and recognize how you did in a handful of meets, but to be named to the All-Big 12 team recognizes your consistent achievements throughout the year. I’m really proud of them.”

With an 8-1-1 record, Pratt garnered praise as the league’s top Reining rider and became the third Bear in the last five seasons to win the award. She went undefeated on the road and averaged a 70.9 across her 10 regular-season rides. She also tallied her first-career Most Outstanding Performer honors after scoring a season-high 76.5 against Fresno State on Nov. 20. This is Pratt’s first-career All-Big 12 distinction.

Clausen wasn’t far behind her teammate at 8-3-1 overall this season, collecting three MOP’s along the way. The NCEA’s Reining Rider of the Month for January, Clausen put down an average of 71.1 in 11 non-zero rides. This is also her first-career all-conference award.

Fuller put together one of the more impressive seasons in Baylor history, going 15-9 overall between Fences and Flat. She recorded six individual awards throughout the season, twice being named the NCEA’s National Rider of the Month in Fences, as well as being named a four-time Big 12 Rider of the Month, twice in each event. Fuller contributed a perfect 6-0 fall slate, 6-0 home record and two MOP’s to her 8-4 Fences campaign, and added another pair of MOP awards plus a career-high score of 93 as part of her 7-5 Flat season to earn her first two career All-Big 12 honors.

Mainwaring led the Bears with nine wins in the 2021-22 season. She averaged a 74 on the year and received two MOP honors, both at away meets. Mainwaring was named the November Big 12 Rider of the Month for Horsemanship after three-consecutive wins and entered the postseason having won eight of her last nine matchups.

BU finished the regular-season 6-6 and earned the No. 4-seed at the Big 12 Championship, where the Bears placed third after defeating Fresno State in the consolation meet. Baylor awaits its final ranking for the 2022 NCEA National Championship, which begins on Thursday, April 14, at the World Equestrian Center in Ocala, Fla.
