WACO, Texas – Baylor track and field opens the Clyde Hart Track and Field Stadium for the 2024 season with the Clyde Hart Classic on Friday and Saturday.

The women’s hammer throw competition starts the meet on Friday morning at 11 a.m. in the throws area adjacent to Touchdown Alley, behind the Hart Stadium grandstands. Saturday begins at the same time with the women’s javelin throw competition on the stadium infield.

The Clyde Hart Classic is scheduled to end with the men’s 4x400-meter relay around 6:30 p.m. CT on Saturday evening.

Live results will be provided online by Delta Timing<https://live.deltatiming.com/meets/32188>.

LAST TIME OUT

The Bears competed in a rain-shortened TCU Alumni Invitational in Fort Worth on March 15-16. The women’s 4x100-meter relay tabbed the 14th-fastest time in the nation to win the event with a 44.65. Makayla Long pocketed two silver medals, one in the discus and one in the shot put, for her runner-up efforts on Friday and Saturday. The meet was called after the first heat of the women’s 100-meter dash, ending the outdoor season opener prematurely.

WELCOME TO WACOTOWN

BU will be one of 13 teams entered into the Clyde Hart Classic. Joining the Bears are Eastern Michigan, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, SMU, Stephen F. Austin, Texas A&M-Commerce, Tarleton State, Texas Wesleyan and UT-Arlington.

OUR NEWEST FIXER UPPER

Debuting the newly renovated Beynon Hobart BSS 2000 track surface, the Clyde Hart Track and Field Stadium will host two regular-season meets across March and April before hosting the 2024 Big 12 Outdoor Track and Field Championship meet in late May. The stadium is in its 10th season and holds 5,000 spectators and participants with grandstands on both sides of the track.

BACK FROM BRONZE

Two of BU’s highest finishes on the national stage last year came in outdoor-only competitions, the 400-meter hurdles and the javelin throw. Nathaniel Ezekiel (400mH) and Chinecherem Prosper Nnamdi (javelin throw) both earned bronze medals at last year’s NCAA Outdoor Championships at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin and didn’t get a chance to return to their events at TCU due to weather.
