WACO, Texas – No. 27 Baylor men’s tennis is prepped to begin a three-match weekend, hosting No. 2 TCU, No. 34 UCF and Prairie View A&M at the Hurd Tennis Center. Admission to all three matches is free.

The busy weekend for the Bears (15-5) kicks off with a rematch against No. 2 TCU (14-1) in Waco on Friday at 6 p.m. BU will rest up on Saturday to reboot for a doubleheader on Sunday, starting at 10 a.m. against No. 34 UCF (14-1) and will finish off the weekend against Prairie View A&M (1-15) at 6 p.m.

Going into the 72nd match all-time against the Horned Frogs, the Bears trail 40-31 in the series. This will be the second meeting of the two teams this season in a rematch from March 10’s match at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center that came down to two third-set tiebreaks.

Facing off for the inaugural time as Big 12 foes, Baylor looks to extend its 2-0 record against the UCF Knights with Sunday morning’s match. The last time the Bears faced off with the Knights was the 2018 season, where BU was victorious, 4-3.

Playing the Prairie View A&M for the 13th time, the Bears aim to remain undefeated against the Panthers. BU hasn’t allowed a single team point from PVAMU in the previous four matchups.

As the new ITA rankings were released on Tuesday, four Baylor courts found their names among the rankings. Court One doubles squad of Tadeas Paroulek and Zsombor Velcz entered the doubles list for the first time this spring at No. 40, and then split up to each land in singles, Paroulek at No. 50 and Velcz at No. 74. Freshman Devin Badenhorst joins them in at 88th.

TCU has five players ranked in singles, led with two in the top 10: Jake Fearnley sixth and Jack Pinnington eighth. Also ranked are Pedro Vives in 57th, Sebastian Gorzny in 71st and Lui Maxted in 72nd. The Frogs also have Gorzny and Vives second in the nation in doubles while Duncan Chan and Maxted are ranked 51st.

Neither the Knights nor the Panthers have any players featured in the ITA national list.

Friday night marks the annual Hounds at the Hurd match, where fans can bring their dog to help cheer on the Bears in the stands. All dogs must remain on a leash and will be registered with Baylor Fan Engagement personnel before entering the grandstands.

Sunday afternoon features a Baylor men’s tennis tank top giveaway to the first 150 fans in attendance.
