PALOS VERDES ESTATES, Calif. – The spring semester gets into full swing for Baylor women’s golf a day earlier than initially planned as they will now open T. Hession Regional Challenge on Saturday, instead of Sunday, at Palos Verdes Golf Club.

With rain and high winds expected for much of the next three days, the 54-hole stroke-play event has been changed to match play and will begin with 36 holes of play on Saturday at 9:45 a.m. CT.

The 16-team field has been broken down into eight matches beginning Saturday. The No. 15 seeded Bears will face the No. 2 seeded UCLA Bruins, whom they saw just a few weeks ago at the Match in the Desert. The winner of BU's match with UCLA would take on the winner of No. 7 seed Florida and No. 10 seed Pepperdine.

Rosie Belsham is coming off a tie for sixth at the Match in the Desert last month and will play at the No. 1 spot. The senior played well in Palos Verdes a season ago, notching a tie for fifth.

Ohma also finished in the top-5 a season ago, tied for second, and she hopes to kick-start her semester with a good showing in the Southern California hills.

Sera Hasegawa will make her first start of the spring at the No. 3 spot. Hasegawa missed the Match in the Desert with an illness but tied for 11th in her last start at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational, her best finish of the season.

Yoonjeong Huh will play at No. 4 this week. The freshman carded the best finish of her young career, tying for sixth in her last start of the fall at the Rainbow Wahine.

Ashleen Kaur, fresh off a tie for sixth at the Match in the Desert, will play at the No. 5 spot. The freshman currently leads the team in par-5 scoring average (4.81).

Stats and live scoring from the matches will be available at Golfstat.com.<https://results.golfstat.com/public/leaderboards/gsnav.cfm?pg=participants&tid=28611>
