FRANKLIN, Tenn. – Baylor women’s golf improved its position each round and recorded a 14th-place finish at the Mason Rudolph Championship on Sunday afternoon.

The Bears surpassed Tennessee Chattanooga to snag the 14th spot and finish the tournament with a 27-over 891. Baylor carded its lowest team round of the tournament with 291 in the final round. Baylor junior Sera Hasegawa claimed the top spot for BU in the third round, finishing with a 1-under 71.

Vanderbilt claimed the team title with a 24-under 840. Ole Miss’ Caitlyn Macnab took the top spot on the individual side with a 12-under 204.

THE RUNDOWN

Ashleen Kaur wrapped up her tournament with at 2-under 214, which tied for 23rd. After a par on No. 10, Kaur carded three bogeys and two pars. On No. 16, the Houston native took another bogey, but began to recover with two birdies on Nos. 17 and 18. As she made the turn, Kaur made another birdie, followed by two bogeys and one birdie. Sitting at 2-over for the round, she carded a bogey on No. 6 and an eagle on No. 7 to get back to 1-over for the round.

Baylor’s Rosie Belsham climbed 11 spots to end the tournament tied for 60th with an overall score of 8-over 224. Belsham’s first nine consisted of seven pars, interrupted only by a bogey at No. 13 and a double bogey at No. 14. She entered her final nine at 3-over, but carded three birdies on Nos. 2, 4 and 8 for a 3-under 33 to fire her first even-par round of the weekend.

Baylor’s Sera Hasegawa ascended 14 spots on Sunday, finishing the tournament in 68th. The junior made an early bogey at No. 12, followed by a pair of birdies at Nos. 13 and 14. She carded a bogey on No. 15 but closed her opening nine with a birdie at No. 18. On the second nine, Hasegawa’s only blemish was a double bogey at No. 3 but battled back with birdies on Nos. 7 and No. 9 to get into the clubhouse with a 1-under 71.

Baylor’s Silje Ohma tied for 69th with a day-three score of 3-over 75. On the first nine, her scores came in pairs with two birdies on Nos. 11 and 14, two double bogeys on Nos. 12 and 17 and two bogeys on Nos. 15 and 18. Her only stumble on the second nine was a bogey on No. 2. She carded back-to-back birdies on Nos. 7 and 8 to finish the tournament with a score of 11-over 227.

Yoonjeong Huh closed the tournament with her best round of the week, a 4-over 76. The freshman finished 86th with a 16-over 232. On the heels of a bogey at No. 10 and a double bogey at No. 13, Huh recovered with a pair of birdies on Nos. 15 and 16 to close the first nine at 1-over. On her inward nine, she carded a double bogey at No. 3 and a bogey at No. 6.


HIGHLIGHTS

  *   Baylor’s three eagles were the most in the field this weekend.
  *   Kaur led the field in par-5 scoring average (4.17).
  *   Kaur carded her career-first top-25 finish.
  *   The freshman was one of three players to make multiple eagles in the event.
  *   BU improved its position in each of the final two rounds.
  *   Four of Baylor’s five players carded their best score of the week in the final round.


Stat of the Day — Sunday marked the second time this season that multiple players have shot par or better in the same round (Sera Hasegawa 71; Rosie Belsham 72).
