STORY LINES

• Baylor Softball is set to host its last tournament of the 2023 season on March 4-5. The Ode to Joy Invitational will feature contests with Texas A&M and Sam Houston.

• The Bears are closing out a 14-game home stand and are currently 10-0 at home.

• Baylor will face the Aggies for the 73rd time in program history and lead the all-time record against them 54-19-1. Baylor also leads the all-time series against the Bearkats, with a 54-30 record.

• In the first midweek matchup of the season, Baylor defeated UT Arlington in an 8-0 run-rule at Getterman Stadium on Tuesday, March 28.

• BU also just finished the Baylor Invitational, where they went 5-0 on the weekend, including a 5-0 shutout against No. 21 Maryland. They also beat Texas A&M Commerce in two games, as well as Minnesota and took the championship game over the Gophers 15-2 in five innings.

• In the Bears 5-0 shutout over Maryland, Dariana Orme threw a no-hitter just a week after throwing Baylor’s first seven-inning perfect game.

• After jumping back into the polls last week for the first time in over a year, Baylor jumped 13 spots in the D1Softball poll and is now ranked No. 10. The Bears are also ranked No. 10 in the Softball America Poll but come in at No. 19 in the ESPN poll and No. 21 in the NFCA coaches’ poll.

• Baylor’s 14-1 start ties for the best start in program history, which happened in both the 2007 and 2011 seasons.

• Shaylon Govan is continuing to rake in the cleanup spot, leading the Bears this week with a .512 batting average with a double, three home runs and 10 RBI in the Baylor Invitational. She leads the nation in runs batted in per game with 2.07 and leads the Big 12 with 31 already on the season.

• Govan is one of three Bears to have double digit RBIs already on the season, with Amber Toven has 12 and Emily Hott has 11.

• Emily Hott was also on fire in the batter’s box last weekend, going 7-for-13 at the plate with two doubles and a triple. She batted .538 and added a stolen base.

• Four arms combined in the circle at the Baylor Invitational with Dariana Orme leading the way with two wins with two complete games and 19 strikeouts.

• Transfer Shannon Vivoda had her first two career starts over the weekend and recorded her first three hits as a Bear. Freshman Jensen Vienne also saw action, recording her first career hit.

• BU has had 21 of 22 players see action during a game at some point this season.
• With a career record of 991-468, head coach Glenn Moore is looking for his 1,000th career win this season and is only 9 wins away from hitting the milestone.
