WACO, Texas – No. 12 Baylor men’s tennis welcomes Arizona State, Florida State and San Diego to the Hurd Tennis Center for ITA Kickoff Weekend, a qualifying tournament site for the ITA Indoor National Championships, held in Chicago Feb. 17-20.

BU (3-1) is 22-0 all-time when playing in ITA Kickoff Weekend, advancing to the national tournament in each of its last 11 appearances.

Day One of ITA Kickoff Weekend features Florida State and San Diego at 2 p.m., followed by the Bears facing Arizona State at 6 p.m. On Saturday, the losing teams will meet in a consolation match at 2 p.m., followed by the winners squaring off at 6 for a playoff spot in Chicago.

Arizona State enters the weekend after a 2-0 start to their season, with wins over Wichita State and Bryant. The Bears hold a 6-1 record over the Sun Devils, last facing each other in March of 2022, where the Bears got a 4-3 win. The lone win for Arizona State came in the 1997 season.

No. 9 Florida State heads west to Waco with a 4-0 record on the 2023 season, highlighted by a 5-2 win over then-No. 7 Georgia, 5-2. If the Bears advance to face the Seminoles, they look to improve upon their current 4-1 record in dual matches, with FSU’s only win coming in 1986.

Finally, San Diego holds a 2-0 record so far in 2023, including a season-opening win over No. 23 Texas A&M in California. A match with the Toreros would mark the first in program history.

With four matches in the books, No. 115 Juan Pablo Grassi Mazzuchi, Marko Miladinović and Zsombor Velcz have three singles wins to their name, while No. 23 Finn Bass, Ethan Muza and Tadeas Paroulek have two.

In doubles, the duo of No. 59 Paroulek and Velcz boast an undefeated 3-0 record.

All matches will have results provided live online<http://www.sidearmstats.com/baylor/mten/> and Playsight will be streaming each court on BaylorBears.com<https://baylorbears.com/sports/2018/9/18/tennis-playsight>.
