Five WT Bears Earn Academic All-Big 12 Honors

IRVING, Texas – Five Baylor women’s tennis student-athletes landed a spot on Academic All-Big 12 teams the league office announced Monday.



Paula Barañano and Isabella Harvison earned first-team laurels, while Brooke Thompson, Alina Shcherbinina and Anita Sahdiieva received second-team honors.



Freshmen are not eligible for the award, however, fifth-year senior Barañano collected the honor in every season she was eligible, becoming the first four-time honoree in program history. Additionally, Barañano finished her decorated career as a four-time ITA All-Academic Scholar.



After earning second-team recognition last season, Harvison made her way to the first team as a communication major. Thompson’s spot on the Academic All-Big 12 Second Team marks the first postseason accolade for the rising junior. Shcherbinina and Sahdiieva collected academic honors in their first season of eligibility for the award.



Additionally, Iowa State transfer Miska Kadleckova landed a spot on the Academic All-Big 12 First Team for the second time in her career.
