Baylor Softball Has 10 Named to Academic All-Big 12 Team

IRVING, Texas – Baylor softball has earned 10 Academic All-Big 12 selections, announced by the conference office on Monday morning.

Baylor has placed at least six selections to the conference's academic honors for 15-straight seasons and had five or more for the 19th-consecutive year.

Josie Bower, Sydney Collazos, Emily Hott, Zadie LaValley, Emry McDonough, Caroline Rowatt, Taylor Strain, Ana Watson and McKenzie Wilson were named to the first team, while Kaci West picked up second-team recognition.

Bower and Hott have been named to the first team for the third-straight year, while Collazos, LaValley, and Strain picked up honors for the second-straight year. Watson received first-team honors after being placed on the second team for the 2021 season, and McDonough, Rowatt, Wilson and West were given conference academic honors for the first time.

Collazos is one of eight softball student-athletes in the conference to receive honors with a perfect 4.0 GPA. This is her second-straight year with a perfect GPA.

First-team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA, while the second-team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.

To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 20 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
