GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Baylor track and field’s wrapped up the Tom Jones Memorial on Saturday at the James G. Pressly Stadium. Aïcha Moumin had a great outing on the day, placing third in the high jump while also tying the as the fourth-best BU high jumper of all time.



The Bears in the men’s 400 all finished in a pack, as Hasani Barr led with a PB 45.56 and fifth place overall. Dillon Bedell was seventh with 45.68, Demar Francis was 10th with 45.94 and Matthew Moorer followed for a 46.05-second race and 13th place.



Moumin jumped to a new Baylor-best high jump mark on Saturday, crossing the 5-9 ¼ mark with ease to finish third and tie as the fourth-best outdoor BU high jumper of all time. Moorea Long was two bar heights back, ending 10th with a days-best 5-6.



Makayla Long opened the day with a silver-medal worthy performance in the women’s discus throw. Long returned to the ring in one of the final field events of the meet to make an outdoor PR of 50-3 ½ in the women’s shot put. That mark put her in sixth place for the event.



The men’s 800 meters featured three Bears in Nicholi Brown, Kade Hulett and Noah Monroy, who all hit new personal-bests in the two-lap race. Brown found the 62-second mark at 1:52.11, while Hulett ran a 1:52.36. Monroy ran his first 800 ever for a 1:52.62 finish.



The women’s 400 meters saw Imaobong Uko in her outdoor quarter mile debut this season, finishing in 52.10 seconds for 13th overall. Mariah Ayers recorded a season-best 52.25 to close in 15th.



In the women’s 800, Sophia Leidner started near the end of the pack, but surged to take second in her heat with a 2:13.80 clocked finish.



Freshman Gary Moore Jr. threw for 14th place in the men’s discus throw, going 158-7 on his second attempt to miss the finals by only four spots.



In the sand pit, Koi Johnson recorded a windy (+2.9 m/s) performance in the triple jump competition with a legal jump of 40-9 ¾. In the men’s event, Aren Spencer hit 46-1 ¼ on his first attempt for 16th.



Kamden Jackson and De’montray Callis finished back-to-back, 18th and 19th, in the men’s 100 at 10.33 seconds. Jackson clocked a 10.328, while Callis was a blink behind at 10.330.



Closing out the day, Moore Jr. threw a 57-0 ¼ in the shot put to make finals and finish fifth, while Cooper Mack closed in 12th at 52-flat.



Tenly Kuhn and Lillianna Ifft led the Bears’ pole vault squad on Saturday morning with a pair of 11-10 clearances. Kuhn finished tied for 16th, while Ifft tied for 21st. Kierstyn Ballard followed behind, clearing 10-10 ¼ for 24th.



Bria Bullard and Michaela Francois finished under one-tenth of a second apart, clocking an 11.38 and 11.42 (+2.1), respectfully.



WHAT’S NEXT

The Bears return home for the Michael Johnson Invitational on April 21 and 22.
