WACO, Texas – Baylor equestrian is set to host its annual Green & Gold Scrimmage on Friday, Sept. 16, at the Willis Family Equestrian Center in Waco.

First ride is set for 12 p.m., and the meet is free and open to the public. Fans will get their first chance to see the 2022-23 roster in action, which is made up of 20 freshmen, 13 sophomores, nine juniors, 13 seniors and six fifth-year seniors.

Head coach Casie Maxwell enters her sixth season at the helm of the program and returns 17 of BU’s 19 point-winners from last year.

The Bears are coming off a trip to the National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) quarterfinals in which they fell to No. 3 Texas A&M in the opening round. After a 7-8 campaign and third-place finish at the 2022 Big 12 Championship, 2022 All-Americans Shelby Clausen (Reining), Marley Mainwaring (Horsemanship), Jenna Meimerstorf (Reining) and NCEA Co-Rider of the Year Andie Pratt (Reining) are back to lead the squad into the new year.

Baylor officially opens the regular season on Thursday, Sept. 29, at South Carolina before traveling to face Georgia the following day. BU will begin its home slate on Friday, Oct. 21, against TCU. Fans are encouraged to wear gold as part of Baylor’s “Go Gold” campaign at the Bears’ first home conference meet.

Preseason rankings are set to be announced next Tuesday, Sept. 20, by the NCEA.
