WACO, Texas – Baylor men’s tennis opens the 2022 fall season this weekend at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic and Hilltop Invitational, beginning on Friday.

“We are really excited to get the fall season started this weekend,” said head coach Michael Woodson. “This is as close of a group of young men as we have had here in my time at Baylor, and I know they all feel that, individually and collectively, they have a lot to prove. They have been training at a higher and higher level, so it’s time to put their skills to the test.”

Marko Miladinovic and Ethan Muza will make the trek to Wisconsin to take part in the Milwaukee Tennis Classic at the Milwaukee Country Club. As an ITA Gold Level event, the winner of the singles draw on Sunday receives a wildcard spot in the 2022 ITA Fall National Championships this November in California. Christopher Frantzen and Justin Braverman have a short drive up I-35E to SMU for the Hilltop Invitational. Friday sees the duo playing two doubles matches beginning at 5:00 p.m. Saturday morning, the duo takes the court again at 9 a.m. for another doubles match before splitting and getting the start on singles in the late morning. The draw for Sunday will be determined after the first two days of competition.

“It is going to be a fun year, and we cannot wait to kick it off,” said Woodson.

The Bears are coming off of a 29-4 season that saw the program’s third-straight appearance in the NCAA quarterfinals and the third-straight Big 12 Championship title.

Finn Bass, Braverman, Frantzen, Juan Pablo Grassi Mazzuchi, Miladinović, Muza and Tadeas Paroulek all return as veterans this season, while Martin Breysach and Zsombor Velcz are welcomed in for fall play.
