WACO, Texas – Baylor men's basketball has signed Ja’Kobe Walter and Miro Little to National Letters of Intent, head coach Scott Drew announced Wednesday. With Walter’s pledge, the Bears’ have now signed a five-star prospect in each of the last three classes, according to ESPN.

“Miro and Ja’Kobe are two tremendous fits with our program,” Drew said. “Miro is one of the top players in Europe who had a great summer with the Finnish U18 team, and was the youngest Finnish player to ever compete for the senior team at EuroBasket, where they made the quarterfinals.”

“Ja’Kobe is a Texas kid we were happy to keep close to home. He already has 2,000 career points but is a true two-way player. He knows how to win, helping McKinney to the state championship game last year. Our fans will love having these players in green and gold."

Walter, originally from McKinney, is playing his senior season at Link Academy in Branson, Mo., which finished last year as the No. 2 team in ESPN's national high school rankings.

Before transferring to Link, ESPN's No. 17-rated player led McKinney to its first-ever state championship game, where he scored a team-high 23 points against Duncanville. On the season, he averaged 23.3 points and 7.6 rebounds for the Lions en route to 5-6A offensive player of the year honors. He also earned a spot on the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches All-State Team and the 6A All-State Tournament Team.

Walter is joined by one of the top international prospects in point guard Miro Little, a four-star point guard from Helsinki, Finland, by way of Sunrise Christian Academy in Bel Aire, Kan. Little is the third player to sign with the Bears out of Sunrise Christian in the last five years, joining Jordan Turner (2019) and Kendall Brown (2021).

This past summer at the FIBA U18 European Championships, Little averaged 15.6 points, 4.0 assists and 9.4 rebounds to help Finland to the third-place game in Division B. Two weeks later, he played with the senior team in the FIBA EuroBasket Championships, helping them to a quarterfinal berth against Spain. As the youngest player in the tournament, he was also the youngest Finnish player to ever compete for the senior team.

Earlier this year, Little participated in the Adidas Next Generation Tournament in Patras, Greece, where he averaged 23 points, 8.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists in four games. In 2021 at the U18 Nordic Championship, Little averaged 17.8 points, 7.3 rebounds and 4.8 assists.

The 2022-23 Bears are off to a 1-0 start and will return to the court on Friday when they host Norfolk State at 7 p.m. at the Ferrell Center.
