THE RUNDOWN
BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Baylor track and field kicked off the 44 Farms Team Invitational at E.B. Cushing Stadium on Friday afternoon with two meet records and three gold medals.

It was all Laurenz Colbert in the men’s 200 meters, as he ran the fastest 200 the 44 Farms Invitational has ever seen, logging a new PR of 20.99 seconds. Kamden Jackson finished in sixth, followed by Hasani Barr in seventh and De’montray Callis in 10th.

In the women’s 200, Imaobong Uko set a new personal-best and another new meet record in the 200 with a 23.47-second race to win the gold. Kavia Francis put up an impressive 23.76 for a fifth-place finish, followed by Arria Minor in eighth.

After an issue with measurements in the women’s long jump, Alex Madlock came back to record her first-ever over-21 mark, jumping a 21-0 ½ to win the gold. Caira Pettway and Koi Johnson took silver and bronze, respectively, with Pettway’s 20-7 ¼ and Johnson’s 18-11 ¾. Alexandra Rutenis also qualified for the final jumps in the event, ending in sixth place.

Johnny Brackins passed on his three final attempts in the long jump after an early 24-8¼ jump, enough to win the silver medal.

Gontse Morake finished the women’s 400-meter hurdles with a 59.06-second race to earn a silver medal in the event. Briana Garcia finished in sixth, followed by Audrey Williamson in 11th.

In the men’s 400-meter hurdles, Nathaniel Ezekiel recorded another gold medal in a 50.35-second race, under half a second before Jayson Baldridge, who finished in the bronze-medal position. Elijah Morris finished in seventh place with a new personal-best race of 53.38 seconds.

Chris Stoudt brought home a new silver medal after a 163-flat attempt in the javelin throw. In the women’s competition, Rylie Smith finished in fourth place with a 121-9 throw, followed by Brooke Botha in fifth.

Alex Kubicek finished the pole vault in the silver-medal position after her 12-8 clearance on the first attempt. Tuesdi Tidwell followed in third, clearing the same height on her second attempt. Kierstyn Ballard finished the event in fifth.

Kiara Rhodes and Alyssa Miller competed for the Bears in the heptathlon. Rhodes currently sits fourth with 3,192 points, after her first-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles with a 13.50-second race. Miller follows in sixth with 3,042 points, also gaining most of her points from the 100-meter hurdles,  with a fifth-place finish in the event.

Luke Anthony finished Day One of the decathlon in seventh place, gaining his largest sum of points from a seventh-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles after an 11.25-second, wind-aided race.

Christopher Martinez capped the night for the green and gold with a 15:27.73 finish in the men’s 5,000 meters.
