WACO, Texas – Baylor cross country combined for 11 Academic All-Big 12 selections between the men's and women's teams, the conference office announced Thursday.

The Bears had seven women's first-team selections, including seniors Celia Holmes and Mazie Larsen achieving a perfect 4.00 grade point average. Aaliyah Miller, Kasey Sutryk, Sophia Leidner, Celie Jackson and Lily Jacobs joined Holmes and Larsen on the first team.

The men's team had three first-team selections in Ryan Day, Alec Atteberry, and Ryan Hodge, while Philip Roxas took home second-team honors to give the Bears a total of four men's honorees.

The 2021 Academic All-Big 12 Cross Country Team honored 150 student-athletes, with 72 selections on the men's team and 78 on the women's team. A total of 31 honorees garnered a 4.00 grade point average.

First-team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA, while the second-team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.

To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher (either cumulative or the two previous semesters) and must have participated in 20 percent of their team’s scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence.

Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all of the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
