WACO, Texas – Baylor men’s golf coach Mike McGraw announced the return of All-American Kyle Jones as the Bears’ newest assistant coach on Friday.
A four-year letterwinner at Baylor from 2012-15 and a Second-Team All-American in 2015, Jones spent nine years on the Korn Ferry and PGA Tours, amassing nearly $900,000 in on-course earnings. Jones joins another former BU All-American, Jeremy Alcorn, who was named to the staff last summer.
“We are thrilled that Kyle will be joining us,” McGraw said. “He brings a lot of competitive experience to our staff, and he is definitely one of the best players in the history of this program.”
One of just four players in program history to be selected to multiple All-Big 12 teams, Jones went on to a strong professional career, making 114 career starts on the Korn Ferry Tour and 27 on the PGA Tour. A winner of the 2020 Utah Championship on the Korn Ferry Tour, Jones had four top 5 finishes, including three second-place finishes, most recently at the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas Wichita Open last June.
A member of McGraw’s first team at Baylor, Jones led the Bears in 2015, earning All-America, All-Big 12 and Big 12 All-Tournament team honors. He led the Bears to the NCAA Bremerton Regional, where he tied for 10th in his final season with the Bears. The Victorville, Calif., native earned a spot on the 2015 Palmer Cup team, helping Team USA to an 18-12 win over Team Europe.
Jones won three individual titles at Baylor and ranks third in program history in top-5 finishes (13) and top-10 finishes (21). His 2015 stroke average of 70.47 ranks as the lowest full-season average in program history, while his career average of 71.93 is the fifth-best.
