A couple of hints that might be helpful to viewers of SAM and other "Northern" productions:
The word "happen" can be used as a synonym for "perhaps," as . . .
Happen she will scrub the muck off her husband's back before they sit down to dinner.
The word "anyroad" can be used as a synonym for "anyway," as . . .
Stop by anyroad, even if it's an hour or two past midnight.
These are two recurring idioms that I have noticed.

If you have difficulty understanding the Mancunian/Yorkshire/Liverpudlian accents in some of the Granada/ITV dramas (which have no helpful subtitles). Raise them high because I’m over here in the U.S. and will have trouble seeing you, so make a real effort!
Those born in or residing in the North are excused from this exercise. Be off now!
