DURHAM, N.C. – Baylor used a late fourth-quarter surge to defeat Nebraska, 67-62, on Friday at Cameron Indoor Stadium, advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the 22nd straight year.
Baylor (25-8) closed the game on a 13-9 stint after regaining the lead with 3:48 remaining, when Taliah Scott converted two free throws following a flagrant foul called against Nebraska. Up to that point, BU had itself in position in the fourth quarter after outscoring the Huskers 12-3 to open the frame.
The Bears controlled the early tempo, claiming the game’s first seven points and building an 11-point lead in the first quarter behind a 10-0 run fueled by two 3-pointers from Yuting Deng. Baylor led 19-11 after one, holding Nebraska without a two-point field goal in the period.

The Huskers responded late in the second quarter, using a 15-6 spurt and perimeter shooting to take its first lead with 1:17 left before halftime. Nebraska’s surge carried into the third quarter, where they pushed the advantage to as many as seven.
Baylor answered throughout the second half, including a key 3-pointer from Jana Van Gytenbeek in the third quarter that helped keep the deficit within reach at six entering the fourth.
The Bears took control in the final period, outscoring Nebraska 26-15 after the deficit was extended to nine.
Scott led Baylor with 15 points, going 9-for-12 at the free-throw line and adding two steals. Darianna Littlepage-Buggs recorded her 14th double-double with 13 points and a game-high 11 rebounds, including five on the offensive glass.
