KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Seeded at No. 13, Baylor men's basketball faces off against No. 12 Arizona State in the first game of the Phillips 66 Big 12 Tournament on Tuesday morning on ESPN+ at the T-Mobile Center.
GAME NOTES
• BU looks to make a run in Kansas City after winning three of its last five games of the regular season. The Bears are working to make its first Championship appearance since 2014.
• This will be the first time that BU will meet Arizona State in the Big 12 Tournament, but the fifth time the two have met in a neutral site setting with the Bears holding a 3-1 record.
• BU has a 15-23 record in Kansas City at the Big 12 tournament, with an 11-17 record in the Scott Drew era.
• The Bears are 11-16 when playing in the T-Mobile Center at the Big 12 Tournament.
• Head coach Scott Drew became one of 25 active DI head coaches with 500 career wins after a dominant 101-75 win over Utah to end the 2025-26 regular season.
• At age 55, Drew is the third youngest among the 25 coaches, the only younger coaches being Bart Lundy (54) and Mick Cronin (54).
• This is March. Baylor is 64-58 in the month of March in the Scott Drew era.
• Kenpom has the Bears holding the No. 2 toughest opponent defensive strength of schedule in the country.
• Additionally, BU’s overall strength of schedule ranks as 13th in the nation and 4th in the Big 12.
• Baylor ended the regular season shooting 51.4-percent from the field and averaging 81.0 points in its last five games versus 40.1-percent from the field and an average of 66.8 points in its first five games of the conference season.
• Tounde Yessoufou earned Big 12 Co-Player of the Week for the final week of the regular season competition after two 20-point performances at Houston and versus Utah.
• Yessoufou posted his first double-double of his career at Houston with 20 points and a career-best 12 rebounds.
• Yessoufou tied his career-high with six steals vs. Utah and led the conference with eight steals on the week.
• The duo of Cameron Carr and Tounde Yessoufou have led the Bears through the season with a combined 1,145 points.
• The two are the first pair of 500+ scorers in a season for BU since 2009-10 with LaceDarius Dunn (704) and EkpeUdoh (500).
• Carr’s 588 points are the most by a Baylor player in their first year since Vinnie Johnson (1977-78).
• At UCF, Yessoufou broke the freshman program record with 511 points, passing Aaron Bruce (2004-05).
• Isaac Williams IV owns 16 blocks on the season, the most by a Baylor player 6’4 or shorter since Willie Sublet (1993-94) who knocked down 38. Williams is first in the nation in players 6’1 or shorter in blocks.
• Williams is averaging 11.8 ppg and 5.4 assists with a 4.5 assist/turnover ratio in the last five contents.
• Against Utah, Baylor put up 101 points, the first time since 1/27/24 against TCU the Bears have posted triple digits against a Big 12 team. The Bears also only committed three turnovers, the lowest in a Big 12 game since 1/17/23 at Texas Tech.
