WACO, Texas – Baylor Softball fell in its midweek contest against UT Arlington, 6-2, Tuesday night at Getterman Stadium.



THE RUNDOWN

Baylor fell behind early in its midweek bout, after the Mavericks scored an unearned run in the top of the first to take the 1-0 lead.



After a leadoff double in the second inning, UTA plated its second run on a fielder’s choice to push their lead to 2-0.



Baylor’s Shaylon Govan and Abi Flores singled in the first and second innings, but the Bears weren’t able to bring anyone home.



Tacking on to its lead in the third, the Mavericks capitalized on a couple hits and a wild pitch to plate two and push their lead to 4-0.



Holding UT Arlington scoreless in the fourth, Govan and Flores each drew a walk in the bottom half of the inning before a fielder’s choice and stolen base had runners on second and third but again the Bears couldn’t capitalize.



Presleigh Pilon singled for the Bears in the bottom of the fifth before two more runs came across for the Mavericks in the top of the sixth to put them on top 6-0.



Lillie Walker sat UTA down in order in the top of the seventh picking up two strikeouts before the Bears went to bat for the last time in the bottom half of the inning.



Baylor added some runs in the seventh after a leadoff single from Brooklyn Carter who came around to score on a triple from Karynton Dawson. A follow up groundout plated Dawson but that would be it for the Bears as they fell, 6-2.



HIGHLIGHTS

  *   Five different Bears recorded a hit
  *   Lillie Walker struck out four in 4.0 innings of relief
  *   Karynton Dawson recorded her third triple of the season and picked up the Bears’ lone RBI
  *   Shaylon Govan and Abi Flores each drew a walk
  *   Brooklyn Carter recorded her 10th stolen base of the year
  *   Govan extended her on base steak to 12-straight games
  *   The Bears are now 56-31-1 all-time against the Mavericks



UP NEXT

The Bears will host UCF for a three-game conference series Friday-Sunday, March 28-30, at Getterman Stadium.
