WACO, Texas – Baylor Softball fell in its series finale against Kansas, 12-2, in six innings Sunday afternoon at Getterman Stadium.



THE RUNDOWN

Baylor started off strong against Kansas in its last game of a three-game series, only throwing five pitches in the top of the first and retiring the Jayhawks in order. Baylor threatened in the bottom half of the inning after a leadoff single from Presleigh Pilon and walks from Shaylon Govan and Karynton Dawson but no runs came around to score.



After putting runners in scoring position again in the bottom of the second, it was Kansas who got on the board first with a two-run single in the top of the third.



Leah Cran singled in the bottom of the third to give Baylor its first run and cut the Jayhawks lead in half.



Kansas added two more to its lead in the top of the fourth with a two-run home run to centerfield to go up 4-1.



Tacking on to their lead, Kansas three runs in the fifth and five runs in the sixth to take the commanding 12-2 lead after Baylor added one run in the bottom of the fifth.



HIGHLIGHTS

  *   Leah Cran went 2-for-3 at the plate with an RBI
  *   Five different Bears recorded a hit
  *   Faith Piper and Amber Toven each hit a double



UP NEXT

The Bears will go on the road to face Northwestern State Tuesday, March 11, in Natchitoches, La., before heading to Beaumont, Texas, to face Lamar on Wednesday, March 12.
