COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Baylor cross country ran at the Texas A&M Invite, hosted by Texas A&M at the Watts Cross Country Course on Friday morning with the women finishing in sixth place out of 16 teams in the 5k event and the men following in ninth in the 8k race out of 14 teams.

THE RUNDOWN

The top two finishers on both sides for Baylor were two Bears who were making their Baylor XC debut. For the men, grad transfer Nick Hruskoci competed in his first meet wearing the green and gold since transferring from Wisconsin, leading the Bears in 26th with a 24:23.9 time. Following Hruskoci was freshman and Waco-native Jack Sterrett, who finished at 24:40.0 in 37th place. This marked Sterrett’s collegiate debut.

On the women’s side, Ruth Kimeli, a sophomore from Eldoret, Kenya, made her cross country debut as she only competed in the 2024 outdoor track season the previous academic year. Kimeli had a strong start, pacing herself in first place at the 2k split, but overall finished in 15th with a 17:48.1 clip. Following Kimeli was freshman Ella Perry, another local freshman from Harker Heights, Texas. Perry made her collegiate debut finishing in 32nd at 18:11.1.

Overall, the top five scorers for the Baylor men were Hruskoci (26), Sterrett (37), Nolan Keenan (55), Devin Duran (62) and Caden Biltz (78).

On the women’s side were Kimeli (15), Perry (32), Jackie Addy (55), Lucy Benton (60) and Jordan Ledington (63).
