THE RUNDOWN
WACO, Texas – Baylor soccer narrowly fell against No. 15 Oklahoma State, 1-0, Thursday night at Betty Lou Mays Field.

After Baylor got off the first two shots of the match courtesy of Tyler Isgrig and Alysiah Lockette, OSU followed up with four shots of their own before taking the lead in the 19th minute. Oklahoma State’s Xcaret Pineda found the back of the net on a set piece set up with a corner kick from Laudan Wilson that put the Cowgirls up early.

Lockette was the only Bear to force a save from the OSU goalkeeper all match, putting a shot on frame in the 13th minute.

Down by a goal, Adriana Merriam narrowly missed the equalizer when her shot in the 38th minute sailed just over the bar. BU goalkeeper Azul Alvarez was also tested in the final minutes of the first 45 and was forced to make a save in the 44th minute that held the Cowgirls to just one goal.

Both teams struggled to get shots off to start the second half, with Isgrig taking the first shot of the second 45 in the 71st minute, but the shot sailed just high.

Oklahoma State added five shots in the last 10 minutes of play, but Baylor kept the Cowgirls from scoring again by not allowing a shot on frame.

Hannah Augustyn got the Bears’ last look of the match in the 85th minute but wasn’t able to put the shot on goal and the Bears fell 1-0.
