WACO, Texas – No. 1 Baylor acrobatics and tumbling faces another new opponent on Saturday when the Bears compete against Augustana on Saturday at 6 p.m. at the Elmen Center.

The Bears (6-0) will face the Vikings (4-1) for the first time in program history. BU is on a 33-meet winning streak, dating back to March 27 of 2021.

BU did not drop an event to Gannon but dropped three heats and tied two others. Acro and Pyramid continue to be the Bears’ strongest events, averaging 29.15/30 and 29.01, respectively.

So far this season, Baylor has seen senior Riley Chimwala earn three Athlete of the Week awards from the NCATA, while Jordan Gruendler has earned two Specialist honors. Payton Washington and Emily Bott have each earned the Freshman honor as well.

Augustana is coached by Kaelyn Cowan, a former Baylor student-athlete that was coached by Felecia Mulkey. Cowan earned a pair of All-America honors as a student-athlete in 2015-17, also earning three NCATA Championship titles. Cowan then was an assistant coach for the Bears from 2019-21, earning a pair of titles as a coach.

The Vikings are coming off a two-win streak in Texas, splitting the decision in a tri-meet with East Stroudsburg at No. 11 Mary-Hardin Baylor on March 9. AU fell to UMHB by 6.37 points (265.465-259.095) while defeating the Warriors by 42.85 points (259.095-216.245).
