Baylor WT Prepares for Weekend in Mississippi

WACO, Texas – Baylor women’s tennis will head to Mississippi on Friday to take on Ole Miss at 2 p.m. The team will remain in the state through the weekend to take on Mississippi State on Sunday at 11 a.m.



In a comeback victory for Baylor last season in Waco, the Bears fought back after dropping the doubles point to the Rebels to clinch the match, 4-3. Baylor has won five of the last six meetings with Ole Miss.



Baylor and Mississippi State have met twice in program history with both matches resulting in 4-3 wins by the Bears. The two teams last faced off in Waco two seasons ago.



ABOUT THE BEARS

Baylor (2-3) is coming off of a loss at No. 21 Washington, 4-2, on Feb. 4. Miska Kadleckova continued her impressive non-conference showing with a 6-1, 7-6(1) victory on court one to move to 4-0 in singles play this year and 3-0 on the top court.



ABOUT THE REBELS

Ole Miss (3-2) is staying home after being defeated by Illinois, 4-0. The Rebels are led by senior Briana Crowley with a team-best 4-1 singles record at the No. 3 position. Ole Miss is 2-0 at home and the matchup against Baylor will be the team’s last home match until its conference-opener against Mississippi State.



ABOUT MISSISSIPPI STATE

The Bulldogs are currently 6-1 on the season and 6-0 at home with their only loss coming at the hands of Memphis. Before playing Baylor on Sunday, the team has another home bout scheduled with Louisiana (2-2) on Friday. Mississippi State is led by junior Maria Rizzolo, who is 4-2 on the top court, and Alexandra Mikhailuk, who is a perfect 7-0 overall.
