WACO, Texas – No. 24 Baylor Softball fell against No. 1 Texas, 14-1, Friday night at Getterman Stadium.
THE RUNDOWN
The Bears fell behind early in the matchup, as Texas plated two runs in the top of the first inning off of a two-run home run. After retiring the next three batters, Baylor wasn’t able to get anything going in the bottom half of the inning as they went down in order.

Texas scored one run in each of the next three innings to go up 5-0 by the bottom of the fourth inning.

Sydney Collazos and Shaylon Govan drew walks, as Emily Hott tripled to mark the only baserunners for the Bears through the first four innings.

Baylor catcher Collazos was able to help stop the UT offense in the top of the fourth inning after back-to-back plays at the plate ended the threat.

Baylor held Texas scoreless in the top half of the fifth before plating a single run in the bottom of the inning. After back-to-back walks and a single from Hott, the bases were loaded for Govan, who recorded the bases-loaded RBI walk to make it a 5-1 ballgame.

Texas put up nine runs in the top of the sixth to go up 14-1 and secure their sixth-inning run-rule victory.

Pinch-hitters Aliyah Binford and Paige King recorded singles in the bottom of the sixth, but that would be it for the Bears.

HIGHLIGHTS

  *   The Bears recorded four hits
  *   Emily Hott had a team-leading two hits with a triple
  *   Hott’s triple was her third of the season
  *   RyLee Crandall tossed 5.0 innings in the circle
  *   Shaylon Govan recorded the Bears’ only RBI, she now has a team-leading 19 on the season


UP NEXT
The Bears will head to Austin to face No. 1 Texas on Saturday-Sunday, April 13-14, at Red & Charline McCombs Field. Saturday’s game will be featured nationally on ESPN2.
