WACO, Texas -- Fresh off a thrilling comeback win over SMU on Tuesday night, No. 34 Baylor women’s tennis will wrap up its regular-season schedule with a pair of matches, hosting No. 20 Oklahoma on Friday at 12 p.m., before playing host to No. 8 Texas on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Hurd Tennis Center.



Baylor (16-9, 7-4 Big 12 Conference) will look to improve on a 9-1 home record on the year with the two final matches at The Hurd in 2024. The Bears currently sit in a tie for fifth place in the rugged Big 12, with Texas (17-4, 10-1) and Oklahoma (14-5, 9-2) just behind league-leader and the nation’s No. 1 team Oklahoma State (23-0, 12-0). The Big 12 Championships will be held in Stillwater, Okla., April 17-20.



On Tuesday night, the Bears rallied past No. 45 SMU to sweep the series with the Stangs, using four points in singles to post the 4-2 win. Baylor got singles points from the nation’s No. 118 player, Miska Kadleckova on court 1, with Liubox Kostenko, Isabella Harvison and Zuzanna Kubacha each earning singles points.



The Bears are led in doubles by the nation’s No. 87 team, featuring Kubacha and Sierra Berry.



Friday will make Senior Day for Baylor senior Miska Kadleckova. A native of Banska Bystrica, Slovakia, Kadleckova has gone 15-3, including 14-3 at the No. 1 spot in singles as a senior after transferring to Waco following a record-setting career at Iowa State. She was the Big 12 Women’s Tennis Scholar-Athlete of the year in 2022-23 while in Ames after maintaining a 3.76 GPA. She broke school records with a 29-11 mark in singles and a 30-10 record in doubles as a junior at ISU and owns a 114-43 career record as a two-time all-league performer. Kadleckova is a six-time Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll selection, a two-time ITA Scholar-Athlete and a member of the College Sports Information Directors Association Academic All-District Team in 2023.



The Sooners are led by the nation’s No. 26 ranked player, Julia Garcia Ruiz, No. 40 Dana Guzman, No. 59 Florencia Urrutia and No. 104 Alina Shcherbinina. In doubles, OU has the nation’s No. 3 pair, Shcherbinina and Guzman, No. 20 with Cayetano and Emma Charney, No. 51 in Garcia Ruiz and Zdena Safarova.



OU has won four straight matches entering the weekend, including wins over No. 26 Texas Tech, No. 36 BYU, No. 50 Kansas and Iowa State. OU owns a 140-83 overall mark in singles and a 76-20 mark in doubles. Garcia Ruiz is 24-4 on the year, 11-0 in conference and 8-0 in the No. 1 spot in the lineup. In doubles, OU is 21-4 as a team in conference, with Roisin Gilheany and Guzman going 9-1 at the top spot.



The Beards are 23-5 all-time against the Sooners and sported a 17-match win streak before having it snapped in 2019.



Texas features several ranked individuals in signles, including No. 20 Malaika Rapolu, No. 25 Sabina Zeynalvoa, No. 33 Tanya Sasnouskaya, No. 119 Charlotte Chavatipon and No. 123 Taisiya Pachkaleva. In doubles, Pachkaleva and Seynalova rank No. 12 nationally, No. 37 in Rapolu and Sasnouskaya, No. 49 in Pachkaleva and Nicole Rivkin, and No. 73 in Chavatipon and Sasnouskaya.



The Horns have won five straight matches entering the weekend, with wins over Kansas State, No. 60 Kansas, Iowa State, No. 26 Texas Tech and No. 36 BYU. UT will face No. 62 TCU on Friday in Fort Worth before venturing to Waco. UT has posted a 123-63 overall mark in singles and a 54-23 record in doubles. Chavatipon is 9-0 in conference in singles, with the doubles team of Rapolu and Sasnouskaya going 8-2 in conference. Chavatipon and Vivian Ovrootsky are 11-1 in doubles and have won 10 straight matches.



UT won a 4-0 result over BU on ITA Kick-off Weekend on Jan. 26 in Austin. Texas leads the series with BU, 41-19 and have won eight straight in the series. BU won 19 of 21 meetings in the series from 2005-2017.
