AUSTIN, Texas – Baylor track and field opened competition at the 95th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays on Thursday at Mike A. Myers Stadium.



Ryan Hodge and Ryan Day highlighted the day for BU, as they finished in podium positions in their respective events. Hodge took silver in the 10,000 meters and Day won bronze in the 5,000 meters.



THE RUNDOWN



Hodge led from the third lap of the men’s 10,000 meters until the last step, finishing only five-hundredths of a second behind Colin Caso’s lean from OU. In his first 10,000-meter race outside of cross country, Hodge clocked a 30:56.46.



Day crossed the line third in the men’s 5,000 meters with a PB that improved by less than a second to 14:25.95.



Sophomore and 2022 All-American Nathaniel Ezekiel made his 2023 400-meter hurdle debut on Thursday and took the No. 1 spot in the preliminary round. Just one of three athletes to break into the sub-50 club, Ezekiel crossed the line in 49.24 seconds.



Sophia Leidner ran a personal-best 17:24.57 in the women’s 5,000 meters. The senior finished the race 11th overall.



Ben Conacher took a tie for eighth in the pole vault competition, clearing 16-11 on the third attempt at that height.



In the seeded portion of the women’s 400-meter hurdles Jasmine Gryne took 17th and Gontse Morake 23rd. Neither qualified to Friday’s final. In the unseeded timed final, Allie Scott led BU in 23rd and Audrey Williamson crossed 58th.



WHAT’S NEXT

The Bears return to Mike A. Myers Stadium to continue the 95th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays on Friday. The first event featuring a Bear is scheduled for 10 a.m.
