Baylor Baseball Picks Up Transfer Pitcher Patrick Hail

WACO, Texas – Baylor baseball head coach Mitch Thompson announced Friday the addition of rising junior right-handed pitcher Patrick Hail to the 2024 roster.

Hail saw time as both a starter and a reliever during the 2023 season at Lamar, where he made four starts among his 21 appearances. He posted a perfect 3-0 record with a 3.27 ERA and 1.34 WHIP while striking out 38 batters across 42.2 innings of work on the year. The native of Arlington, Texas, held opponents to a .215 batting average and worked 10 scoreless outings during his sophomore season.

In a May 10 contest against the Bears in Waco, Hail struck out the side in his only inning on the mound on just 16 pitches. It was one of his 12 multi-strikeout appearances on the year. Hail also picked up 2023 Academic All-Southland First Team honors as he maintained a 4.0 GPA in the classroom while pursuing a degree in finance.

Prior to attending Lamar, Hail pitched at Blinn College for two seasons. He made three appearances in the COVID-shortened 2020 season, posting a 1.29 ERA with 12 punchouts in seven innings, and then made 15 appearances with 44 strikeouts in 35 innings in 2021. He also picked up NJCAA All-Academic First Team praise for maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA.

Hail graduated from Arlington Martin High School in 2019, where he was named the District 4-6A Most Valuable Pitcher, and also played basketball during his prep career.
