WACO, Texas – Baylor women's golf bolstered its 2023-24 roster with the addition of Ashleen Kaur, head coach Jay Goble announced on Thursday.

Kaur’s older sister, Gurleen<https://baylorbears.com/sports/womens-golf/roster/gurleen-kaur/10700>, is one of the most decorated players in program history. While the sisters share a connection by playing at the same school, Goble said Ashleen earned her way to Waco by being one of the most talented players in the country.

“We’ve known Ashleen for a while and have been able to see her game grow over the years,” he said. “The name is obviously familiar to our fans, but Ashleen is a tremendous talent who has made her own mark on junior golf, and I look forward to seeing her do the same here at Baylor."

The 13th-ranked player in the latest AJGA rankings is amidst a stellar 2023, which started with a win at the Annika Invitational presented by Rolex in January. Kaur bested 71 of the top female junior golfers in the world with an eagle on the final hole to win by a shot, setting a new tournament record with a 15-under 204 in the process.

Earlier this month, she carded an eighth-place finish at the Mizuho Americas Open at Liberty National Golf Club. She is currently competing at the Rolex Girls Junior Championship at Johns Island, S.C.

In 2022, the Cypress, Texas, native picked up three top-5 finishes in six AJGA events, highlighted by a win at the C.T. Pan Junior Championship, where she shot a final-round 68 to capture the title. She also won the Girls Southern Texas Junior PGA Championship at Sugar Creek Country Club and took third place at the Houston Junior.

Kaur joins a group of incoming freshmen that includes Amy Huh from South Korea and Hannah Herbel from Bismarck, N.D. The roster of returners includes five of the six players that competed for BU at the NCAA Championship. Among those are All-Americans Rosie Belsham, Sera Hasegawa and Silje Ohma, in addition to Britta Snyder and BaiMai Seema.
