LAST TIME OUT

Baylor jumped back in the win column Wednesday night with a 69-48 victory over Kansas State inside the Ferrell Center, improving to 9-2 at home this season. The 21-point victory marked the ninth time this season the Bears have bested their opponent by at least 20 points. Additionally, it was the second-largest margin of win over a Big 12 opponent this year behind the 22-point win over TCU to start conference play.

Three Bears reached double figures, as Darianna Littlepage-Buggs recorded her team-high seventh double-double of the year with 19 points and 11 rebounds to lead the team in both categories.

SHARING IS CARING

In Wednesday’s win over Kansas State, Baylor recorded an assist on 96.6% (28-of-29) of its made baskets, which was the highest percentage of assisted baskets in a Division I game this season. Caitlin Bickle led the way with a career-high eight assists, while Jaden Owens finished with seven and Jana Van Gytenbeek added four off the bench.

SCOUTING TEXAS AND THE SERIES

Texas holds the 59-48 advantage in the all-time series with Baylor, as the teams are knotted at 24 wins apiece in Waco. Last season, the Bears topped Texas twice in three days during the month of February, before the Longhorns responded with the 67-58 victory in the Big 12 Championship game in Kansas City. Prior to the 2021-22 season, the Bears had won 13-straight games against the Longhorns.

Texas is led by Vic Schaefer, who is in his third season at the helm in Austin. The Longhorns enter Sunday’s game with a 13-6 overall record and 4-2 ledger in Big 12 action. Texas has five players averaging double figures led by Sonya Morris, who is sitting at 12.0 points per game. Morris and Shaylee Gonzales have started all 19 games for the Longhorns this season, as Gonzales is averaging 31.8 minutes a game.
