WACO, Texas – Baylor softball junior Dariana Orme was recognized as the top pitcher by both the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) and the Big 12 Conference for the previous week of competition, announced by the organizations on Tuesday afternoon.

Named Wilson/NFCA Division I National Pitcher of the Week, Orme was unbeatable in the circle, lifting Baylor to two wins, including a perfect game and a take-down of the then top-ranked team in the country.

She also garnered Big 12 Pitcher of the Week honors, the first conference weekly award for the Bears this season. It marks the Bears 45th overall Big 12 Pitcher of the Week honor and the first since Kaci West’s perfect game last season.

The junior pitcher finished off her week of play with a 0.00 ERA, facing one of the highest-ranked offensive lineups in the country, while not allowing a single earned run and striking out 12 in 11.0 innings off work.

The Vacaville, Calif., product pitched the first seven-inning perfect game in Baylor softball history during day one of the Getterman Classic. She tossed just 81 pitches in her perfect outing and struck out a career-high 10 batters. She also held the then-ranked No. 1 Oklahoma to just one unearned run while striking out two in 4.0 innings pitched in a 4-3 win over the Sooners.

The nod marks just the fourth time in BU history and first since 2017 for a national weekly honor for a Baylor pitcher, joining Kelsee Selman (2017), Heather Stearns (2016) and Lisa Ferguson (2007), who all garnered the same award.
