LAREDO, Texas – Baylor men’s golf claimed its second-consecutive tournament title, finishing off an 8-under 856 Tuesday at Laredo Country Club.

Johnny Keefer led the way for BU with a 3-under 213 to finish second, his best finish since he won the Rice Intercollegiate in February of 2021. Four Bears finished in the top 10, and all five placed 13th or better.

Baylor has now won 17 team titles under Mike McGraw, giving him 47 total as a head coach.

THE RUNDOWN
Keefer had an early stumble with double bogeys at Nos. 3 and 8 but atoned for them with birdies at Nos. 6 and 9 for a 2-over 38 on the front nine. A birdie at No. 13 got him back to 1-over on the day and tied for the individual lead, before bogeys on two of his final three holes netted him his best finish in over two years.

Trey Bosco notched his third top-five of the season with a 1-under 215 on Tuesday. The junior started on No. 2 and made his first bogey of the day at No. 6 but followed it up with a birdie at No. 7. Bosco bogeyed No. 10 to make the turn at 1-over before making one more bogey at No. 12. From that point, the Austin native finished strong with birdies at Nos. 13, 16 and 17 to get back into red figures and finish tied for fifth.

Drew Wrightson tallied his third-career top-10 finish after an even-par 216 put him in a tie for eighth. Wrightson opened with three bogeys on the front side at Nos. 2, 3, and 9 to go out in 3-over 39. His first birdie of the day came at No. 10, but was followed immediately by a bogey at No. 11. The sophomore played his final seven holes at even par with birdies at Nos. 13 and 17, around a double bogey at No. 16.

Tyler Isenhart also recorded a tie for eighth, his second top-10 finish of the season. Following a par at his opening hole on No. 2, Isenhart made his first bogey of the day at No. 3 and made another at No. 8, before his first birdie came at No. 9. After a 1-over front nine, the junior made three-straight bogeys at Nos. 12, 13 and 14, but punctuated his round with a final birdie at No. 17.

Zach Heffernan finished 13th at the Border Olympics, his fourth top-25 finish of the season. The sophomore started on No. 2 and made three bogeys in his first eight holes, but closed his opening nine with a birdie at No. 10. After six-straight pars, Heffernan had a birdie-bogey-birdie finish to claim his 13th-place finish.

QUOTABLE
Head Coach Mike McGraw — “I’m very happy with this win. Any time you win an event by 16 strokes, it’s a good thing. There was so much to build on, and now we have some very nice momentum heading into Palm Springs next week.”

WHAT'S NEXT
The Bears will return to the road next week when they open play at the Prestige Feb. 20-22 on The Norman Course at PGA West in Palm Springs, Calif.
