IRVING, Texas – The Baylor men’s tennis team had seven named to the 2023 Academic All-Big 12 first team, announced by the conference office on Monday morning.



Finn Bass (communication), Justin Braverman (accounting), Christopher Frantzen (finance), Juan Pablo Grassi Mazzuchi (finance and management information systems), Marko Miladinović (communication), Ethan Muza (marketing) and Tadeas Paroulek (political science) were listed among the 37 men’s tennis student-athletes honored.



It is the second-consecutive year Bass has found the first-team honor, and third overall with a second-team selection after the 2021 season. Frantzen is also back on the first team for the second time after debuting in 2021.



The seven student-athletes listed on the first team ties the program record for honorees in a season, knotted with the 2017 season where Jimmy Bendeck, Juan Benitez, Luke De Jong, Will Little, Johannes Schretter, Max Tchoutakian and Tyler Stayer found a spot on the list.



To qualify as one of the 846 student-athletes honored, they must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 20 percent of their team’s scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.



First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
