Baylor Baseball Earns 10 Academic All-Big 12 Selections

IRVING, Texas – Baylor baseball has earned 10 Academic All-Big 12 selections, as announced Monday by the conference office.

All 10 of Baylor’s honorees were named to the first team, a league best. This marks the second-consecutive season that BU has led the conference in first-team selections. First-team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 GPA or better.

Graduates Blake Helton and Anderson Needham collected their fourth- and third-career academic awards, respectively. The duo were both named to the 2019 Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team, then both earned a spot on the 2020 Academic All-Big 12 First Team. Helton also picked up second-team praise in 2021.

Two Bears earned their second-career Academic All-Big 12 honors in Adam Muirhead and Cole Stasio, who were each named to the first team a year ago. The remaining six BU recipients picked up their first-career academic honors.

To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher, either cumulative or the previous two semesters, and must have participated in 20 percent of their team’s schedule contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence.

Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
