IRVING, Texas – Baylor junior Tadeas Paroulek has been named the Big 12 Men’s Tennis Player of the Week for the second time this season, as announced by the conference on Tuesday afternoon.



Paroulek went 3-0 in doubles and singles last week as the Bears faced off against Oral Roberts, No. 57 Tulsa, UTRGV and No. 31 Texas Tech.



In singles play, Paroulek defeated the No. 28 player in the country, Kody Pearson from Tulsa, 6-2, 6-4 before taking a 6-1, 7-6(5) match from No. 42 Olle Wallin to clinch the Bears’ first conference win of the season.



In doubles, Paroulek and Zsombor Velcz remain ranked at No. 19 in the newest rankings from the ITA. The duo tabbed a ranked win on Saturday over No. 72 Reed Collier and Dimitrios Azoidis from Texas Tech, 6-4.



In Tuesday morning’s newest ITA rankings release, Paroulek jumped 42 spots to No. 52, his highest ranking since the pre-fall release.



Paroulek is No. 2 in singles wins this season at 12, just one behind senior Juan Pablo Grassi Mazzuchi, and leads the team in doubles at 17.



The Bears head to Fort Worth to play second-ranked TCU for the third time this season to continue conference play. A weekend trio awaits BU back at the Hurd Tennis Center, as Alcorn State comes for a Friday doubleheader before senior day on Saturday against Texas.
