WACO, Texas – Baylor men’s tennis opened the 2022 ITA Texas Regional on Thursday morning at the Hurd Tennis Center. The Bears had two participating in the day’s action, with Justin Braverman finishing 2-0 and Christopher Frantzen 1-1 on the day.



THE RUNDOWN

Braverman’s two-win Thursday begin with a quick 6-1, 6-4 win over Abilene Christian’s Cesar Barranquero. A few hours later, the sophomore returned to the courts to defeat Noah DeLuna from Incarnate Word, 6-4, 6-3. With his two wins, Braverman’s name is added to the main draw, which begins Friday afternoon.



Frantzen opened his Thursday by winning the first-round qualification draw, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3, against TAMU-CC’s Tomas Quesada Perez. After dominating the first set of his second-round match, 6-1, SMU’s Jordi Redelijk stormed back and secured the match in the second and third sets by a score of 7-5, 6-3.



WHAT’S NEXT

Day two of the ITA Texas Regional commences on Friday morning at 9 a.m., with the first and second rounds of the doubles main draw, followed by the first round of singles.
