TULSA, Okla. – Baylor men’s tennis brought its time at the ITA All-American Championships to a close on Sunday morning after Finn Bass and Juan Pablo Grassi Mazzuchi dropped the doubles consolation title match, 7-6(5), 3-6, 1-0(7), to Virginia Tech’s Jordan Chrysostom and Ryan Fishback.

THE RUNDOWN

The first set of Sunday morning’s match saw the Bears and Hokies trading games until the pair from Virginia Tech went on a two-set run. The Bears fought back and forced a tiebreak to decide the set, until the Hokies pulled away and took the 7-5 win.

The Bears came out for the second set looking for revenge and took a quick lead. The duo from Virginia Tech staged a comeback, but fell short and the Bears took set two, 6-3.

Baylor entered the third set tiebreak by putting the first points on the board. After going back-and-forth, Chrysostom and Fishback pulled away and took the tiebreak and bracket title, 10-7.

WHAT’S NEXT

The Bears return home to the Hurd Tennis Center to host the ITA Regional Championships Oct. 13-18.
