FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Baylor track and field men wrapped up the NCAA West Preliminaries at the John McDonnell Field on Friday, qualifying four individuals and two relays to the NCAA Championships in Oregon next month.

“I am super proud of our men today,” said head coach Michael Ford. “Starting with a 4x100 school record and then five other qualifiers. We will have a lot representing Baylor in Eugene in two weeks.”

The first race of the day held a new program record for the Bears, as the men’s 4x100-meter relay of Laurenz Colbert, Isaiah Cunningham, Kamden Jackson and De’montray Callis recorded a 38.87 to finish second in their heat between Texas Tech in first and Big 12 champion TCU in third.

Hasani Barr, Jayson Baldridge, Nathaniel Ezekiel and Dillon Bedell finished third overall in the 4x400-meter relay nightcap, qualifying onward to Eugene with a season-best time of 3:02.18.

Eli Morris and Johnny Brackins both advanced on to Hayward Field in the 110-meter hurdles Friday afternoon, with Morris running a 13.67 and Brackins finishing second in his heat.

Cunningham received his second ticket of the day to Eugene in the 100-meter dash, finishing ninth overall and fourth in his heat with a time of 10.12 seconds.

It was a 49.77-second race that advanced Ezekiel to the NCAA semifinals in the 400-meter hurdles. After leading the nation for most of the regular season, the true freshman gets his chance to secure the title next month.

Callis missed the cutoff in both the 100 and 200 meters, just shy by two-tenths of a second in the 200. Bedell also fell short in the 400, ending 19th in 46.08 seconds.

Day Four begins at 5 p.m. on Saturday with the women’s 4x100-meter relay finals. All competitors must finish top-12 in the final day to advance to the national championships in Eugene. The meet is streamed on SEC Network +, and live results<https://flashresults.ncaa.com/OutdoorRegionals/2022/West/index.htm?xd_co_f=MjNiMDhhYmUtZjEzOC00YmEyLTg2NzMtODJiMDM1M2YzMDFi> are available online.
