WACO, Texas – Baylor baseball outfielder Jared McKenzie has been named to D1Baseball’s Preseason All-America Second Team, as announced Monday by the publication.

McKenzie is one of 54 honorees, which includes 10 hitters and eight pitchers on each of the three teams.

The third-year sophomore from Round Rock, Texas, hit .383 last season with 10 home runs and 44 RBI. He led the Bears with 82 hits, 62 runs, four triples and a 1.079 OPS in 2021 and is currently Baylor’s all-time leader in career batting average (.389).

With this honor, McKenzie continues to add to his already impressive offseason, having been previously named a Preseason All-American by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper (second team) and Perfect Game/Rawlings (third team), as well as a unanimous Preseason All-Big 12 selection.

D1Baseball’s editors and national writers select the preseason All-America teams with one guiding principle in mind: to identify the best and most valuable college baseball players for the 2022 season. Eight Big 12 players were named to one of the three preseason teams.

Baylor opens its 2022 season against Maryland on Feb. 18, as part of a three-game series and seven-game homestand at Baylor Ballpark in Waco.
