IRVING, Texas – No. 3 Baylor men’s tennis junior Adrian Boitan has been named the Big 12 Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.

Boitan, a native of Constanta, Romania, had a 3-0 week in doubles and went 2-0 in singles against then-No. 9 Texas, Tulsa (RV) and No. 7 Virginia to earn the accolade.

Against the Longhorns, he and Tadeas Paroulek clinched the opening point with a 7-5 victory over Chih Chi Huang/Micah Braswell on court three. Boitan went on to clinch the match overall with his decisive court one win over No. 20 Braswell, 6-0, 6-3.

In the match with the Golden Hurricane of Tulsa, he and Paroulek clinched the doubles point on court three against Daniel Siddall/Tom Thelwall-Jones, 6-2. In singles, he bested Kody Pearson 7-6(4), 6-3.

In the matchup with the No. 7-ranked Cavaliers, he and Paroulek helped to earn the doubles point with their 6-4 victory on court three over Jeffery van der Schulenburg and Jackson Allen. His singles matchup with No. 30 Inaki Montes de la Torre went unfinished as Sven Lah clinched the match while he was in a second-set tiebreaker on court one.

Boitan was a driving force for the Bears in all three matches, with the Virginia match bringing in the largest crowd on record to the Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center.

The junior improved his dual-match record to 8-0 in singles, all on court one, while he improved to 7-1 in doubles. Only one win away from matching his previous singles win streak of nine in a row, he has doubled his previous win streak in pairs play to six-straight, all with Paroulek.

He has helped the Bears stay perfect so far this season at 11-0.

Boitan and Baylor head to Seattle, Washington, for the ITA National Team Indoor Championships, beginning on Friday and running through Monday. Washington will serve as hosts and the Bears will join two other Big 12 teams, one Big Ten team, two ACC squads, seven SEC teams and three from the Pac-12 for the tournament.
