IRVING, Texas – Baylor soccer placed 11 student-athletes on the 2022 Fall Academic All-Big 12 Team, announced by the conference office Tuesday afternoon.

Eleven first-team selections mark the 13th time in program history and seventh-consecutive year the Bears have had 11 or more student-athletes named to the conference’s top academic team.

Kayley Ables, Maddie Algya and Taylor Moon all picked up their fourth-career first-team honors, while Elizabeth Kooiman collected her third-career first-team selection. Chloe Brown, Sarah Hornyak, Olivia Mack and Gabby Mueller are each now two-time first-team picks. Marissa Gray, Alyssa Navarrete and Lauren Traywick all received first-team honors for the first time.

Ables and Navarrete are two of 77 student-athletes on the list to boast a perfect 4.0 GPA.


First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.

To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 20 percent of their team’s scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
