THE RUNDOWN
WACO, Texas – Baylor softball falls to Texas Tech, 2-0, in the series finale Sunday afternoon at Getterman Stadium, but takes the series over the Red Raiders 2-1.

Holding the Red Raiders scoreless through three, starting pitcher Dariana Orme struck out six and only allowed one hit to begin the game. With three strikeouts in the second inning alone, she worked out of a bases loaded jam.

Aliyah Binford walked to leadoff the second inning and moved to third on a sacrifice bunt and stolen base, but wasn’t able to score in the inning.

The Bears, who had a baserunner in all but the first inning, left 11 on base, not able to drive in any runs on their five hits.

Putting together something offensively, Wilson went 2-for-4 at the plate, with two infield singles and Binford doubled to lead off the fourth inning, the only extra base hit for the Bears.

Binford relieved Orme in the top of the fourth, striking out five over the next three innings and only allowing two hits.

In the Bears last chance to make something happen, Ana Watson was hit by a pitch and Wilson singled putting two-on and in scoring position for Binford. After Texas Tech intentionally walked Binford to load the bases, a fly out to left field ended the Bears threat to give Texas Tech the 2-0 victory.

TOP QUOTES
Glenn Moore on leaving runners on…
“It’s very frustrating. Our offense was lacking I thought all weekend but we’re able to do some good things earlier in the weekend. Our walks-played the game well enough to win but this game we didn’t. I don’t know if we were expecting fritz right away and that threw us a curve or whatever, but we didn’t make quick adjustments at all and then we got in situations where we didn’t execute short game that could’ve put us in a better position to put pressure on them. So, I just didn’t think we played the game well today, we didn’t play from a focus standpoint. Maybe the two wins had taken some pressure off of them. The pressure was there because we need to win every game. So, I’m disappointed certainly in the outcome, I’m not disappointed in the effort. The effort was there and we fought back like we have all year. Just the lack of focus I think early on was frustrating.”

McKenzie Wilson on the game…
“Like you said, not the outcome we wanted. It stings. It stings a lot. Why? Because we have two great pitchers on the mound working hard and the offense unfortunately couldn’t come through today. But we did get the series win. That’s awesome. We had a chance at the end to put ourselves in a position to win a ballgame, so that’s also hopeful that we didn’t just throw in the towel. Our team was fighting all seven innings until the last out. I think that’s a positive note to end on.”
