No. 4 Baylor MT to Finish Conference Play at No. 33 Texas Tech

LUBBOCK, Texas – No. 4 Baylor men’s tennis is set to finish Big 12 play at No. 33 Texas Tech on Saturday, with match time slated for 5 p.m. at the McLeod Tennis Center.

The Bears (21-3, 3-1 Big 12) will close out regular-season Big 12 play when they face the Red Raiders (14-9, 2-2 Big 12). The all-time series between the teams currently leans in TTU’s favor, 32-30. BU’s road record this season is 7-1.

Baylor is coming off a 2-0 weekend, winning over No. 44 Oklahoma State, 7-0, and No. 34 Oklahoma, 6-1. BU improved to 8-3 against nationally ranked opponents this season with the wins.

Senior Matias Soto earned his first weekly Big 12 honor of the season after going 4-0, playing singles on both court two and court one. The 39th ranked player is now 11-6 in dual match singles play and 13-7 overall going into Saturday’s match. The No. 18-ranked doubles pairing of Soto and Juan Pablo Grassi Mazzuchi are 17-4 on court two. Grassi Mazzuchi is 20-2 in singles play, with a 13-1 record on court six.

Adrian Boitan, ranked No. 3 in singles by the ITA, is 16-0 on court one and 7-1 against ranked opponents. He and Tadeas Paroulek are now 11-4 as a pair, with a 10-4 record on court three. No. 78 Paroulek is 11-1 for the spring, going 7-0 on court five and 4-1 on court six.

The fifth-ranked duo of Finn Bass and Sven Lah hold a 10-6 record in dual play, all on the top court, and are 16-9 overall. In singles, No. 71 Lah is 12-6 in dual play, while No. 123 Bass is 15-5.

Texas Tech plays host to BU after also going 2-0 over Oklahoma and Oklahoma State, both in Lubbock. The Red Raiders were previously on a three-match skid, falling to then-No.22 Middle Tennessee, No. 3 TCU, and No.11 Texas, all on the road. Six of their last 10 opponents have been ranked by the ITA.
