A&T’s Harris Earns NCATA Specialist of the Week
Baylor graduate student earns her first weekly award of season

WACO, Texas – Baylor acrobatics & tumbling graduate student Briana Harris has earned her first weekly award of the season from the NCATA, being named Specialist of the Week on Friday.

In addition, Bayley Humphrey earned Honorable Mention Athlete of the Week and Jordan Gruendler was named Honorable Mention Freshman of the Week.

Harris, a native of Cibolo, Texas, earned the award for her prowess in the tumbling event.

She is the anchor in the quad pass, heat three, where she and three others scored a 9.5 against Oregon. Harris also performs an individual pass in the open heat, where she scored a 9.95. Both passes have a 10.0 start value. With her contribution in both heats, she aided the Bears in scoring a 56.250 to win the event against the Ducks.

Harris has competed the open pass for the last six meets, never scoring below a 9.825 for the heat and averaging a 9.917. Her highest score in the heat has been a 9.975, hitting it twice this season.

In addition to her competing in the tumbling event, Harris contributes two 10.0 standing tumbling passes, a synchronized running tumbling pass with a start value of 9.5, as well as a 10.0 start value individual running tumbling pass within the team event. She is also an anchor in the compulsory tumbling heat, where she scored a 9.5 this week.
