THE RUNDOWN
BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Baylor track and field wrapped up the 44 Farms Team Invitational at E.B. Cushing Stadium at Texas A&M Saturday, recording seven gold medals and three meet records on Day Two.

The men’s 4x100 meters featured two groups of Bears that put up first and third-place finishes. Laurenz Colbert, Isaiah Cunningham, Kamden Jackson and De’montray Callis ran a 39.30-second race, good enough for a new meet record. Jayson Baldridge, Hasani Barr, Dillon Bedell and Matthew Moorer finished just behind in 40.18 seconds.

The second meet record of the day came from Aaliyah Miller in the 1,500 meters, which she completed in 4:22.45. Mazie Larsen finished in fifth place, Jordan Ledington in ninth and Celia Holmes in 12th.

The final meet record came from a fiery performance in the men’s 400 meters from Barr, who improved on his personal-best by over three-tenths of a second to finish in 46.18 seconds. Bedell finished in second place with 46.42, enough for another PR, and Moorer rounded out the podium sweep for the Bears with a 46.87 race.

Caira Pettway moved up the Baylor all-time list to No. 3 after her 11.20-second performance in the 100-meter dash, followed by Sydney Washington in third in 11.45 seconds. Michaela Francois equaled her personal-best with an 11.59-second, fifth-place finish.

Cunningham found the seventh-fastest sprinter position in program history with a 10.17-second race in the men’s 100 meters, improving on his personal-best by just under two-tenths of a second. Callis finished in fourth with a 10.24-second race, followed by Colbert in 10.27 seconds. Jackson finished out the race for Baylor with an eighth-place finish in 10.38 seconds.

Alex Madlock and Koi Johnson got a 1-2 finish for the Bears in the triple jump, with Madlock putting up a 42-4 and Johnson a 41-2 ¼.

Baylor opened the track portion of the day with a 44.28-second win in the women’s 4x100-meter relay behind Alexis Duncan, Pettway, Washington and Mariah Ayers.

Duncan improved her Baylor-best 100-meter hurdles time to 13.25 seconds to win a silver medal, just before Kennedy Bailey’s 13.55-second finish for bronze. In the men’s edition of the race, Elijah Morris finished in 13.92 seconds for a bronze medal, barely making the legal cut with a +4.0 wind measurement.

Kavia Francis got a bronze medal in the women’s 400 meters with a season-best 52.85-second race. Imaobong Uko finished fourth, and Ayers followed in fifth.

Moorea Long jumped to a new personal-best 5-7 ¼ in the high jump on Saturday to win the silver medal.

In the shot put, Cole Hardan secured a first-place finish with his 59-9 ¾ throw on his second attempt. Samone Turner finished the women’s hammer throw in sixth place following a 155-7 chunk. Hannah Link also competed but fouled out after her third attempt.

Ryan Hodge and Ryan Day finished close together, yet again, in the men’s 1,500 meters. Hodge’s 3:54.28 set him in the fourth-place position, followed by Day’s 3:58.33 for seventh place.

Benjamin Conacher vaulted to a seventh-place finish in the men’s pole vault after a 16-1 ¾ clearance. Nate Butler cleared 15-1¾ to finish in 12th place.

Three Bears completed their multi events on Saturday afternoon, with Kiara Rhodes and Alyssa Miller taking the fifth and seventh-place finishes, respectively in the heptathlon, while Luke Anthony finished the decathlon in 10th.

The Bears have next weekend off for the Easter holiday and will be back at their home track in two weeks for the Michael Johnson Classic on April 22 and 23. Tickets are available now at BaylorBears.com/Tickets<http://www.BaylorBears.com/Tickets>.

TOP QUOTE
Michael Ford on the team’s performance…
“I thought today went really well. We had some good performances with some national top-15 marks. We just need to continue improving going into the Big 12s and get ready for the Michael Johnson Classic in two weeks. I was really happy with the jumps, the sprinters and the pole vault. We just need to keep improving.”
