THE RUNDOWN
WACO, Texas – Baylor Softball dropped a close contest Saturday night against No. 6 Oklahoma State, 2-0 at Getterman Stadium.

In what was mainly a pitcher’s duel, the Bears suppressed the Oklahoma State offense for most of the night, only allowing two runs, one being a solo home run.

Starting pitcher Aliyah Binford pitched a complete game with five shutout innings. She struck out seven on the night, sitting the Cowgirls down in order during the sixth and seventh innings.

McKenzie Wilson extended her hitting streak to 12-straight games, as she led off the night with a single to left field and promptly stole second. Taylor Strain followed that up with a walk, but no Bears were able to score in the bottom of the first.

BU worked out a bases loaded jam in the top of the second while holding the Cowgirls scoreless until the fourth inning. After a solo home run gave Oklahoma State the 1-0 lead, they added their second run of the night in the top of the fifth.

With the Bears best chance of the night, they loaded the bases in the bottom of the fourth with walks issued to Binford and Ana Watson before Emily Hott singled to the pitcher. With only one-out and the bases loaded the next two batters were struck out, erasing the Bears threat.

Hott’s start at second base tonight was her first start in 11-straight games.

TOP QUOTES
Glenn Moore on the game…
“I don’t know if you can throw any better than she did against a great lineup. I’m very pleased with her and I’m pleased with the whole team effort. We certainly kept them off-balance and had them frustrated. We had a lot better demeanor tonight, and she certainly gave us a chance.”
