WACO, Texas – No. 9 Baylor volleyball welcomes Texas Tech to the Ferrell Center on Friday and Saturday (Oct. 1 and 2) for its conference home opener.

Both matches are set to start at 6 p.m. and will be streamed on Big 12 Now on ESPN+. Friday's match is also "Dig Pink" night at the Ferrell Center, where pink rally towels will be given away while supplies last.

Baylor (7-3, 2-0) comes into the weekend having moved up one spot in the AVCA weekly rankings to No. 9 after sweeping Kansas State twice on September 25 and 26 in Manhattan, Kan. to start Big 12 play.

Avery Skinner earned her first weekly award from the Conference on Tuesday, Sept. 28, as she was named Offensive Player of the Week. She led the team with 5.25 points per set and recorded 27 kills on 53 attempts.

Texas Tech (10-5, 0-2) enters the weekend after battling Kansas to two 3-2 decisions in the Jayhawks’ favor to start Conference play. BU is ranked seventh nationally in blocks per set at 2.97 and has had double-digit blocks in six matches.

The all-time series between the Bears and Red Raiders sits in TTU’s favor at 50-38, but Baylor is making headway in reversing it, winning 29 of the last 32 meetings. The Bears are also on a five-game winning streak against Texas Tech. They last met in 2020 where the Green and Gold swept them in Lubbock.

Baylor is on a winning streak of six, having defeated Florida twice, Rice, McNeese, and then Kansas State twice. The Bears have held their opponents to less than 20 points in 13 of the last 15 sets played. The last five matches played were all 3-0 sweeps of their opponents as well, and the Bears had an attack percentage over .300 in each of the five.
