THE RUNDOWN
WACO, Texas – Baylor comes from being tonight to tie Oregon 2-2 after they force a double overtime in the last seconds of regulation.

The Bears out shot the Ducks in the first half 13-4 but couldn’t get one in the net giving Oregon the 1-0 lead heading into halftime. The Ducks snuck one by Bear goalkeeper Jennifer Wandt in the 7th minute.

For most of the second half the Bears and Ducks matched each other shot for shot with Baylor having just the one-shot advantage. The big standout tonight is that Baylor racked up more shots on goal than Oregon did.

The end of regulation is where things got exciting for the Bears and fans in attendance tonight. In the 81st minute Ducks forward Lexi Romero received back-to-back yellow cards resulting in a red card that had her eliminated from play. The Bears took advantage of the one less player on the field when Mackenzie Anthony headed the ball into the top left corner of the net after a perfect assist from Elizabeth Kooiman.

The Bears momentum had now changed and with just two seconds left in the second half a Duck defender was issued a yellow card setting Baylor up for another chance to tie things up. Chloe Japic lined up for the kick and lined one at the Ducks goalkeeper who swatted the ball away and set it up for Japic to have another shot as she sailed one into the back of the net as time expired.

Baylor got five shots off in the first over time and two in the second but weren’t able to capitalize on a golden goal tonight.

Anthony, Kooiman, and Japic all led the offense tonight for the Bears with help from eight other Bears getting shots off tonight. The backline held strong for the Texans, while goalkeeper Wandt was able to add six saves.

TOP QUOTES
Paul Jobson on the game…
“I feel good, I’m proud of them. It’s not over until that final whistle, and we play like that all the time. We obviously dug ourselves a bit of a hole but I thought we really just scrapped and fought and we weren’t going to walk out of here. It wasn’t necessarily about winning or losing at that point, it was about playing for pride. And I thought they did great just battling back one goal at a time. Even down to the penalty kick that was missed, so to speak, she followed it up. And that’s what you’ve got to do, it’s never say die.”

Chloe Japic on staying calm and scoring…
“We kept saying throughout this game that it’s not over till it’s over. That’s my mindset the whole game. A ball looks like it’s going out, it’s not out until it’s out. You play on until the whistle blows. And that was just my mindset. I told myself, I’m scoring, one way or another, whether the keeper saves it or not. It was a great save by the keeper, by all means, but I was ready for anything. Luckily, it bounced right to my feet again and I was able to put that away.”
